Did you know Indy’s tools can work together internally to help automate your workflows? That’s where our automations come in.

Say you have a proposal for an upcoming project and want to create a contract or invoice tailored to that proposal the second your client approves it–automations are here to do exactly that, without you needing to think about it again.

These internal automations are designed to work across Indy’s core tools. For the moment, these internal automations are only available on proposals, contracts, and invoices.

How to create automations

First, go to the individual proposal, contract, or invoice that you would like to create the automation for. On the “Create” tab on the right hand side, you should see an option to create a new automation.

Automations are made by selecting an event that will trigger the automation and the action that will follow it. The action will just happen when the trigger event occurs, without you even needing to think about it.

Once the automation is set up, it’ll show up like this on the sidebar. It should work as expected when the trigger event occurs.

A quick note: global automations are not available at this time. Automations must be added to each document you create.

Scope of work

The “Scope of work” content block in Proposals is designed to work with automations.

This new block transfers directly from your proposals to your contracts when automations are enabled, ensuring that the scope of work you describe makes it word-for-word into the contract you send to your client.

Digital Assistant is in Beta. What does that mean?

A feature in the Beta program is one we’re actively working on. This isn’t a promise that these features will be released right away...or at all. But sometimes we want to share them with users and receive your feedback to make sure we’re making things the right way and making the right things. Assuming all goes well and Digital Assistant leaves Beta, there’s a good chance it will become a part of our Pro suite.

Designs that do make it into the product as permanent fixtures may be modified in their final version from what you see when they’re in Beta; your feedback can influence these changes.

Did you try out Digital Assistant? If so, we’d love to know what you think.

Looking for external automations?

You’ll want to check out Indy’s Zapier integration, which allows you to connect Indy to 1000+ apps and automate external workflows.
